Preconstruction Manager for General Contractor

WELBRO Building Corporation has a career opportunity for an Estimator or Preconstruction Manager in Central Florida with commercial construction experience. Responsibilities include: 1) preparing full estimates on complex work, 2) providing complete conceptual and final estimating input on CM work or complete total bid price for GC work, and 3) promoting key relationships with owners, A/E’s and subcontractors while resolving technical and/or value engineering matters during negotiation and contract execution.  The ideal candidate will be 5+ years out of college and qualified to take on the full range of preconstruction and estimating duties.  Position is located in our corporate office in Maitland, FL.

Key Duties

  • Analyze and evaluate historical cost data to determine pricing
  • Build estimates based on an understanding of design, constructability, and sequencing of a project
  • Prepare detailed estimate of entire scope of assigned trades, building system, and/or overall project cost
  • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs of all building and site work components
  • Prepare and solicit bid requests for subcontractor
  • Participate in post-bid revisions, meetings, and negotiations
  • Analyze existing site conditions and all contract documents (plans, specifications, etc.) to determine any required scope that is not indicated
  • Work with Operations and fellow Preconstruction Managers to ensure general conditions and general requirements items are properly addressed in estimate

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university
  • 3+ years of experience as an Estimator with a commercial general contractor
  • 5+ years working for a General Contractor(s) in an Estimator or Project Manager career track; previous experience would include Office Engineer, Project Engineer, Estimator, and/or Assistant Project Manager in the commercial building construction industry.
  • Education/school project experience or hospitality experience is ideal.
  • High proficiency in estimating applications necessary
  • Integrity, tenacity, demonstrated ability to succeed, and the attitude to do what it takes to meet and/or exceed client expectations
